Epic - Imperial Guard and Ad-Mech: Armies On Parade

Powering through the re-basing initiative and it's pretty satisfying to see the end result.
Today's post covers off the Imperial Guard and Adeptus Mechanicus forces.

In other news;

I'm starting a new army! (yeah, pretty sure this breaks about 3 of my hobby goals, but screw it! Also, i'm eBaying a tonne of 40k stuff that i'll never use, so it's hopefully going to cost me 'nothing')

I've ordered a bunch of Tau proxies from Vanguard/Onslaught Minis and i plan on blogging the whole process from unboxing to finish.

The Tau were too late to the game for 2nd Ed Space Marine, but there are rules for Netepic and the other systems.

Force composition wise it worked out well (considering what was left in stock). I think I've got around 4000pts of legal Netepic, with little wastage, and i'll likely just paint everything all at once just in case the numbers required for the other systems doesn't match up.

I've picked a colour scheme of Teal/Grey which hopefully doesn't match too much to any of my existing forces (see a 28mm sampler below).

Depending on how long it all takes to arrive I've also got some other stuff on the table...

Eldar infantry! - I've counted out what i have left and it's enough for a guardian host and some aspect warrior units, these will be done in my blue/white scheme and then i'll try to get all my Eldar on the same basing scheme.

Blood Angels Land Raiders and Rapiers - doing some more Land Raiders for the terminators in the old camo scheme.

30k Stuff - I've also got a Fellblade and some Sicarian tank proxies coming. I had to stop myself from starting a new Emperors Children legion, and instead i'll probably add these to my Iron Warriors for use with Imperius Dominatus.

Anyhoo! Imperial Guard and Ad-mech;

Epic - Ultramarines: Army On Parade

Apologies for all the posts! (never thought i'd be writing that!)

I'm just dumping the photos i have of all of my Epic armies as i pull them out of storage, give them a dusting off and return them to their slumber...

I have to confess, i took the photos of this force in preparation for sticking on eBay!

I've since had a change of heart though... if you look back to the first posts on this blog, it was me getting back into Epic after 20+ years hiatus.

These were the first guys i painted up after picking up a complete Epic 40k starter box (which i probably should have kept!)

it shows my painting at it's rustiest, and that is saying something, i especially hate the use of chunky railway model scenic ballast on the bases, but hey ho.

I've decided in the end to keep them, as they take up no space at all really, and serve as a great little ~2000pt army to use in smaller games, or as allies.

Epic - Chaos: Army on Parade

Following on from yesterday's post about the importance of cohesive basing, i've dug out my Chaos and ran a brushful of 'Mournfang Brown' around all of the bases, as they were quite, eh, chaotic before!

I don't know if i can be arsed with putting grass tufts on them all yet, especially as my new bag of static grass is a wee bit of a different colour to the one i've used for everything else so far.

Anyhoo, i've taken the opportunity to get all the spiky lads, lassies and everything in between out on a table for a big family photo.

I'm toying with the idea of doing this for them all now, as i think i've got recent Eldar, and IG ones somewhere, so would just be a case of digging out the others.

we'll see how bored i get in the coming days/weeks!
