April roundup

 Another month, another photo dump of progress...

Still not had any gaming, but that should hopefully change soon.

I've kept the pile of shame ticking over and finished off some odd hobby jobs - including more contributions to the Life Of Die podcast.

Next month will see my next 'new army' project for this year.... Epic Squats - I let go the small army i acquired a few years ago and used it to fund some fresh unpainted minis.

My vision for these guys will be some kind of Nordic/Pirate theme, black/grey/white/red using some Space Wolf decals where required.

I will have a boat load of plastic infantry and bikes, but not much of the heavier metal praetorians. As such my theming will be more of a mobile/raiding force rather than the traditional dug in/tick like dwarves of lore.

Anyhoo, here's the stuff, More Green Marines, based 40k guys, and some stuff from the Life of Die 'white dwarf' style photo shot for the latest video(s) on Epic list building.

Oops I did it again! - Bolt Action

Off the back of my recent 'success' of aquiring, painting and storing an Army for NetEpic with relative ease, i was feeling gallus...

I had also managed to clear out a load more stuff via eBay with the help of £1 listings and same price courier collections.

I was in a good place. with a small 'to-do' pile, and a manageable collection of minis and terrain for the various games i play (or at least tell myself i play).

Then my human weakness was exposed.
In a casual conversation with a friend, he mentioned that he was getting into Bolt Action (28mm World War 2 platoon level game from Warlord).

We talked a bit about the armies we'd like to paint, and the possibility of maybe getting a couple of the small blisters that contain enough troops for a skirmish game...

24hrs later, i had around 90 infantry and a tank en-route to my house, and i was once again chopping up coir door mats for wheat fields and hedge rows!

I'm fairly sure i vowed not to do 'this' again, but here we are!

I'll say it now for the record, for what it is worth;

I'm buying/painting 2 small armies (1000 points in game terms)

British Paras/Commandos with a Churchill for late war europe, and some kind of Germans for an opposing force in the same theatre.

I'll have enough terrain for a 6x4 table, using what i have in the house already.

Lets see if i can stick to this.

I'm still testing out colour schemes, but I've ordered some specific paints from Vallejo as although i'm not too fussed about 100% accuracy, but not having to mix my own would be nice for such a large group.

The test model below isn't likely to look like the final product now.

Once more into the breach!

I've also included some final pics of my AT 2018 collection, as it has now been moved on, so keeping them here for any future nostalgia i may have.

Epic - Imperial Guard and Ad-Mech: Armies On Parade

Powering through the re-basing initiative and it's pretty satisfying to see the end result.
Today's post covers off the Imperial Guard and Adeptus Mechanicus forces.

In other news;

I'm starting a new army! (yeah, pretty sure this breaks about 3 of my hobby goals, but screw it! Also, i'm eBaying a tonne of 40k stuff that i'll never use, so it's hopefully going to cost me 'nothing')

I've ordered a bunch of Tau proxies from Vanguard/Onslaught Minis and i plan on blogging the whole process from unboxing to finish.

The Tau were too late to the game for 2nd Ed Space Marine, but there are rules for Netepic and the other systems.

Force composition wise it worked out well (considering what was left in stock). I think I've got around 4000pts of legal Netepic, with little wastage, and i'll likely just paint everything all at once just in case the numbers required for the other systems doesn't match up.

I've picked a colour scheme of Teal/Grey which hopefully doesn't match too much to any of my existing forces (see a 28mm sampler below).

Depending on how long it all takes to arrive I've also got some other stuff on the table...

Eldar infantry! - I've counted out what i have left and it's enough for a guardian host and some aspect warrior units, these will be done in my blue/white scheme and then i'll try to get all my Eldar on the same basing scheme.

Blood Angels Land Raiders and Rapiers - doing some more Land Raiders for the terminators in the old camo scheme.

30k Stuff - I've also got a Fellblade and some Sicarian tank proxies coming. I had to stop myself from starting a new Emperors Children legion, and instead i'll probably add these to my Iron Warriors for use with Imperius Dominatus.

Anyhoo! Imperial Guard and Ad-mech;
